The Accretion Gospel
The twelve survivors of the original Lacryman race. They have lived since several thousand years ago, and have guided the Lacryman race as they have formed it to take over their own planet, then star system, and soon made plans to move out into the rest of the galaxy.
The Last are composed of twelve members- six male, five female, and one who is electively without discernible gender. Due to a tradition derived before the exodus off Lacryma IV and out into the rest of the star system, the names of the Last are never spoken by any member of Lacryman society, and as such are unknown to non-Lacrymans. It is said that this tradition came to be in order to better protect and preserve the heart of Lacryman culture, which is rooted in the memories and identities of those that created the race.
The Last are from a different time, and have markedly different attitudes towards intergalactic politics and leadership than more contemporary leaders. As such, they do very little direct leadership anymore, delegating such roles to trusted individuals and elected officials.
It is said they are among the most potent psionicists in the galaxy, rivaling even the thought-sculptors of the Rovano system. This much is at least partially apparent, as only the most powerful mind could execute the techniques required to create a Lacryman body. However, it is suggested that while they are vastly powerful, they are unable to repair the damages to their ageless bodies beyond what can be achieved through psionic healing. It is said that if their bodies were to be destroyed, the original methods by which one could convert a being into a Lacryman would be lost. As such, initiatives to create new bodies for the Last have begun.
